A business permit, also called a Mayor’s Permit or BPLO Permit, is a government license issued to companies and business owners. It serves a green light for them to operate legally within the city or municipal jurisdiction. When is the annual renewal of a Business Permit?
In almost all cities and municipalities in the Philippines, a business permit expires on the last day of each calendar year, i.e., the 31st of December. Its annual renewal is from January 01 to January 20 of the following year, unless an extension applies.
What are the penalties for late renewal?
Skipping or delaying the business permit renewal often results in the accumulation of fines and penalties. Under the Local Government Code of the Philippines, LGUs may impose a twenty-five percent (25%) surcharge on the local business tax assessment, an additional two percent (2%) penalty for every month, and possible business closure or seizure of properties.
What are the requirements for Business Permit Renewal?
While the actual requirements vary per city or municipality, these generally include barangay business permits, business permits and official receipts from the previous year, company registration documents, and other secondary permits and certificates, e.g., CENRO, sanitary permits, FSIC, comprehensive general liability insurance, etc.
What is the process of Business Permit Renewal?
After securing a barangay business permit or clearance, go through the different offices for the secondary permits and certificates. Once all requirements are complete, submit them to the City or Municipal Business Permit and Licensing Office (BPLO) for assessment and payment of fees.
What are the Business Permit Renewal fees?
Business permit renewal fees vary across jurisdictions. In general, however, these fees are for the local business tax, sanitary inspection, garbage collection, building inspection, mayor’s permit, and others required by the LGU.
How long does it take to renew a Business Permit?
Many LGUs set up a business one-stop shop (BOSS), especially during business permit renewal season to provide convenience to business owners and expedite the processing. Updated business permits may also be released on the same day or within two (2) weeks, depending on the efficiency of the LGU.
